Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, California State University, Chico

I am a Bay Area native, born in San Francisco and raised in Redwood City. I am a proud alumna of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (Class of 1991), attended Notre Dame High School, and graduated from Sequoia High School. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, Chico. I have taught 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. I enjoy working with learners of all ages. I have a passion for cultivating inviting, inclusive classrooms and for developing strong relationships with students and families to help all students feel seen, valued, and successful. This is my second year teaching first-grade at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. Working here is my dream job!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish is a beautiful community, truly my “home away from home.” It is an honor to serve the parish through the church and school. My lifelong connection to the OLMC community is deeply important to me.
I live in Redwood City with my husband Walter, three boys (Edward (OLMCS Class of 2023 and Junior at Serra High School), Jack (8th Grade at OLMCS), and Patrick (7th Grade at OLMCS)), and two cats (Moira Rose and David Rose). I enjoy spending time with friends and family (especially cheering my kids on in their activities), reading, gardening, and traveling.
Fun facts… my first grade teacher at OLMCS was Mrs. Scherba, and my mom (Judy Bursak) was the OLMC school librarian for 20+ years!
