Hello, I am Ms. Johnson, the sixth grade homeroom teacher and sixth through eighth math teacher. If a student could review my class, I think they would say that it is a fun and challenging environment. My goal as a teacher is to create academically rigorous projects that are directly applicable to the students’ lives. For example, my seventh graders apply our standards to a financial literacy project that puts them in the lives of the nation’s most common vocations. They learn to budget, pay tips, apply discounts, and even do taxes (at a seventh grade level). Students walk away with a sense of accomplishment and a greater understanding of personal economics. I hope that each student graduates from my class feeling capable, confident, and ready to make the world a better place.
