My name is Karen Sammons, and I am the Transitional Kindergarten teacher at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. I have been an early childhood educator for 39 years and have spent the last 18 years teaching at OLMC. I was inspired to become a teacher by my 3rd grade teacher at OLMC- Mrs. Vandenbrook.
Having attended Mt. Carmel myself—along with my mother, two aunts, five siblings, three children, ten nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins—this school holds a very special place in my heart. The sense of community and life long friendships that occur at this school are amazing.
I am currently halfway through my fifth year as the TK teacher, and I truly love watching children learn and grow as we explore the world that God has created for us.
When I am not at school, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, camping, and spending time with my family—especially my grandson, who will become a fourth-generation Padre in just a few years.
