I'm Director of Technology and Facilities and, depending on whether it's an odd or even day, I'm also Director of Safety or Director of Security. (As Safety Director, I can easily redirect the Fire Inspector away from my disaster of an office.) I've been part of OLMC for fifteen years, initially just fixing computers, but I have worked my way up to fixing anything that is broken. (My specialty is electric pencil sharpeners.) I enjoy the unexpected challenges that working at a school presents, and I appreciate how well folks here can function no matter what resource is temporarily unavailable.
My previous career was as a computer science lecturer at Stanford University and Cañada College, teaching adults—young and old—how to program. Prior to that, I maintained scientific computers and wrote code for them. I tend to be anti-technology in my personal life, playing music on wind instruments and restoring mechanical clocks from the turn of the century that do more than just tell the time.
